Barclays has appointed Kersi Patel as head of Trade and Working Capital for Middle East.

In his role, Patel will be responsible for building the Trade and Working Capital Product and Sales organization in the region aimed at growing Barclays market share in these businesses.

Patel joins Barclays from HSBC Bank Middle East where he was the head of Trade and Supply Chain for Middle East & North Africa.

Previously, Patel has held several senior roles across trade and transactional banking in HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Emirates Bank.

Barclays managing director, head of Corporate Coverage, UAE and GCC Rezwan Mirza said that this appointment is part of the company's strategic focus on accelerating the growth of its Corporate Banking business across the region.

"The UAE and the wider GCC region continue to offer substantial growth prospects for our regional and multinational clients," added Mirza.
